Hand-addressed and free franked mailing envelope as president, 5.25 x 3.75, addressed by Buchanan to "Lewis Carr Esquire, Hutchins House, 10 Waverley Place, New York," and franked in the upper right, "Free, James Buchanan." Postmarked at Washington, May 31, 1860. The red wax seal has been clipped from the back and was once affixed to the lower left corner, but the adhesive has dried out. In fine condition.
