Vintage matte-finish 11.5 x 8.75 photo sent as a Christmas card, which shows a coastline in Rio de Janeiro, signed in the lower border in fountain pen, "A Merry Christmas after Rio—1928, Herbert Hoover" and "Lou Henry Hoover." In very good condition, with trimmed edges, soiling, some areas of light adhesive residue, and a crease across the bottom that passes through Herbert's signature. Hoover had just been elected as president in November 1928, after which he took a goodwill tour of Central and South America.
