Description

TLS signed “Thos. A. Edison,” one page, 8.5 x 11, January 16, 1905. Letter to Herman E. Dick, regarding the international disbursement of batteries, in full: "Supplementing my letter to you of today, it occurs to me that in Japan, Australia and possibly other countries, it might be found desirable to supply the demand for storage batteries by manufacture in the United States. I should therefore, like to have you consent to this being done, the understanding being that for all batteries so manufactured in the United States for foreign countries, you shall receive a royalty per cell equal to the maximum royalty per cell received by you in any foreign country." Dick agrees to the proposition and has countersigned below. In fine condition. Herman Dick was a founding director of the Edison Ore Milling Syndicate and, by 1905, served as a foreign agent promoting Edison's battery in Europe and beyond.
