In part: "I deeply appreciate the very kind invitation which your Club has been good enough to extend to me to be its guest at the dinner to be tendered to Hon. Whitelaw Reid February 11th next. The pressure of public duties, however, is so great as to prevent me from having the pleasure of being with you on that occasion, much to my regret, as I would be glad of the opportunity to show my appreciation of Mr. Reid's distinguished services in the recent negotiations in Paris." In very good to fine condition, with substantially trimmed edges, and the signed page inlaid into a slightly larger sheet.
