Vintage matte-finish 8 x 11.25 portrait of Massachusetts Governor Calvin Coolidge by Boston photographer John Garo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Mrs. William F. Whiting, with sincere regards, Calvin Coolidge, January 1920.” Triple-matted and framed to an overall size of 19.5 x 23.5. In fine condition. John Garo (1870-1939) was a distinguished Boston photographer in the first part of the 20th Century, who mentored Yousuf Karsh from 1929 to 1931. Karsh later said that Garo was the greatest influence on his life and career.
