Description

Confederate officer (1802-1888) best known for his leadership role in Pickett's Charge at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was severely wounded in the battle, losing a leg in addition to being captured. ALS signed “I. R. Trimble,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, September 6, 1870. Written from Baltimore, a letter to A. G. Warfield, in part: "They have not sent my check for use…on Wharf Cumberland. Favour me by having acct. remitted. There was a package sent to J. L. Haines, a laborer on the Counchville Rd. some six months ago, by Adams Express, to be left at Engineer office. If it is still there, please take the trouble to send it by stage to Mitlinburg, Somerset Co. care of Ab'm. Lee & M. Jason Keifer." Double-matted and framed with a plaque to an overall size of 15.5 x 23.75. In fine condition.
