Turkish politician (1899-1961) who served as prime minister from 1950-1960; he was hanged by the military junta after the 1960 coup d'état, and is today one of the three political leaders of the Turkish Republic (along with Atatürk and Turgut Özal) to have had a mausoleum built in his honor. Vintage matte-finish 9.5 x 7 photo of Menderes at his desk, signed in fountain pen, "A. Menderes." In very good condition, with creasing, heaviest to the upper left corner and right side. Accompanied by an unsigned season's greetings card and a transmittal letter from his private secretary.
