Henderson of his appointment by President Lincoln as "Provost Marshal for the Fifteenth Congressional District of the State of Pennsylvania, with rank of Captain of Cavalry." Signed boldly at the conclusion by Stanton. In fine condition. Includes a handwritten dispatch from Edward D. Townsend, dated May 6, 1863, affirming the resignation and honorable discharge of Henderson on April 30, 1863.
