Description

Journalist and newspaper publisher (1847-1911) who established the Pulitzer Prize 'for the encouragement of public service, public morals, American literature, and the advancement of education.' Uncommon DS, one page, 8.5 x 14, January 15, 1896. Pulitzer appoints Charles H. Jones as "my proxy to represent me as a stockholder of the Pulitzer Publishing Company." Prominently signed at the conclusion in ink by Pulitzer and countersigned by a witness. In very good to fine condition, with light toning over much of the document.
