Description

LS in French, signed “Bonaparte,” three pages on two sheets, 7.5 x 10, Republique Francaise letterhead, September 22, 1796. Letter by Bonaparte as general-in-chief of the Army of Italy, in part (translated): "To the Adjutant General Datourneau, commanding officer in Pizzighettone, The engineering officer who is in Pizzighettone has the assignment of giving you the intelligence you ask on the fortification of the town on the side of Cremona. The orders for the supplying of the town have been reissued." The letter contains further orders about the fortification and defense of the city. In very good to fine condition, with scattered staining and light soiling. A desirable letter from Bonaparte's campaign in Italy.
