Vintage glossy 4.5 x 6.5 photo of Schmitt on his graduation day from jet pilot training at Williams Air Force Base, displayed in a 7.25 x 9.25 mat, signed on the mat in black ink, "Harrison H. Schmitt." The reverse bears a typed collector's label: "Scientist-astronaut Harrison H. Schmitt posed for this photo and graciously signs with our 'presidential pen' on his graduation day - Williams Air Force Base, August 6, 1966." In fine condition. A geologist by education, Schmitt was selected as a member of the first group of scientist-astronauts in June 1965, and then spent his first year at Williams Air Force Base to train as a jet pilot. He graduated from the flight training course on the date of this signature—a most historic, early piece.
