Jewish-Hungarian author (1905-1983) best known for the anti-Stalinist novel Darkness at Noon. TLS signed “A. Koestler,” one page, 6.25 x 8, personal letterhead, January 2, 1979. Letter to Reif, in part: "I sent you a few days ago a copy of 'The Challenge of Chance' and hope that it arrived safely. However, I have not so far received the manuscript of the German translation. It was probably held up in the Christmas rush." In fine condition, with two file holes to the left edge.
