Shultz, Secretary of Labor," in full: "One of the last acts of the outgoing Secretary of Labor was to forward a report to the Congress regarding the minimum wage laws. In this report, he recommended, among other things, that the minimum wage per hour be increased to $2.00. He also reported that the recent increases in the minimum wage had no adverse effect on job opportunities. (See item X-7 in the report from Arthur Burns' group) I request that you review the minimum wage question with Mr. Stans and Mr. Romney. Your views regarding a possible increase in the minimum wage and its impact on employment opportunities should be forwarded to me by March 10, 1969."
