Description

Armstrong lashes out at a Christian magazine editor: "It was unbelievable to me that Guideposts would print unverified quotations from a quarter century earlier"

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, October 26, 1984. Letter to Rick Hamlin, project editor for Guideposts. In full: "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to approve the clip from your planned publication. The story you referred to is certainly not my story. It was apparently based on an interview with my mother. After the story was originally brought to my attention, shortly after its publication, I asked my mother if she was responsible for the many errors of fact and misquotes in the article. She assured me she was not. It was unbelievable to me that Guideposts would print unverified quotations from a quarter century earlier. I could only conclude that policy and integrity of the magazine was akin to that of the National Enquirer. I am unable to think of any condition under which I would approve text or collaborate in any way with Guideposts." In fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and a light central vertical bend.
