Description

German V-2 rocket scientist (1908-1983) during World War II who, after being brought to the United States under Operation Paperclip, became the first director of NASA's Kennedy Space Center in 1962. TLS signed “Kurt H. Debus,” one page, 5 x 8, personal NASA letterhead, July 22, 1974. Letter to Peter Wilhelm, in part: "It is unknown to me whether there are any more envelopes or material which you are looking for. To your question as to who of the former Peenemuende employees works in the United States, you might want to write to the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center…To second your question, the accurate time the V-2 launch took place in Cuxhaven, I must admit that I cannot accurately recall these dates." In fine condition, with intersecting folds.
