Distinguished British poet (1809-1892) who was one of the most highly regarded and influential literary figures of the Victorian era. Exquisite 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Tennyson by Elliott & Fry, signed below the image in black ink, "A. Tennyson." Printed text on the reverse reads: "Elliot & Fry, 55, Baker Street, Portman Square, London, W." In fine condition, with mild silvering to dark areas of the photo, and a few pencil notations to the reverse. An uncommon image, as Tennyson portraits typically depict him later in life and looking to his left.
