Description

Ike makes a request of his media coach, actor Robert Montgomery

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, July 13, 1961. Letter to Hollywood actor Robert Montgomery, in full: "As you know, the American Broadcasting Company is planning to produce a television series of twenty-six shows entitled 'The Eisenhower Years,' similar in nature to the series just completed entitled 'The Churchill Years.' In view of our long years of association in all my activities regarding television, I would much appreciate it if you would represent me in all matters pertaining to this series. Obviously, I have little experience in this kind of activity and less time to devote it. Of course there will be other television projects which I am asked to participate in from time to time. As they come up, I will naturally be in close contact with you." In fine condition, with a bit of creasing to the right edge. In 1954, Montgomery took an unpaid position as a consultant and coach to President Eisenhower. From his own office in the White House, Montgomery advised Eisenhower on how to look his best during his nationally televised appearances.
