Real estate and railroad entrepreneur and president of the Standard Oil Company (1830-1913) who set out to make Florida the 'Newport of the South' by providing extensive rail access and grand hotels to lure wealthy vacationers. Partly-printed DS, signed “H. M. Flagler,” one page, 10.75 x 7.75, July 14, 1899. An assignment of legal title for nine shares of the Standard Oil Trust, signed at the conclusion by Flagler as the company's secretary. On the reverse, the document notes the transfer of shares from "Mrs. M. E. Chittenden" to "J. D. Rockefeller." The receipt remains affixed to the left side of the certificate. In fine condition.
