Japanese naval hero (1848-1934) who led his country's fleet to victory in the Russo-Japanese War. Vintage matte-finish 8.75 x 11.75 half-length portrait of Togo in uniform, signed in black ink, "Admiral H. Togo," and then below in Japanese characters. Affixed to the original 13.75 x 16.75 mount. In fine condition, with light toning and soiling to the mount, and light silvering to darker areas of the image. Togo remains quite rare across all formats, with this signed portrait representing the first we have ever offered. A large, handsome depiction with a pair of clean, bold signatures.
