Color semi-glossy 7.5 x 9.5 photo of Mantle posing on a bench, signed in black felt tip. The photo is also signed in gold ink by the original photographer, Ray Gallo, who adds "1989." Double-cloth-matted and framed with an information sheet for the Gallo photograph to an overall size of 21.5 x 19. In fine condition. Gallo captured the original black-and-white version of this iconic image showing the young, confident Mantle at Fenway Park on September 16, 1956. Mantle himself called it ’the greatest photograph I’ve ever seen of myself,’ and the color hand-painted version by Yvette Andreoni later became the picture of Mantle selected by the Hall of Fame from over twenty-five years’ worth of entries.
