Description

Incredibly rare fully signed 1972 Dark Side of the Moon tour program

Exceedingly rare unofficial 1972 UK Dark Side of the Moon tour program, six pages, 8.5 x 11, signed on the front and back covers in blue ballpoint by all four members of the group: Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright. The program is unstapled (as issued) and can be opened so that all signatures are displayed. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds and general handling wear. Included is the original Leeds Town Hall January 28, 1972, ticket stub for the event at which these autographs were obtained.

Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and a detailed letter of provenance from the original recipient, in part: “The first Pink Floyd concert I attended was at Leeds Town Hall on the 28th January 1972 and this was one of several venues making up the Pink Floyd’s UK winter tour 1972. This concert was all about Pink Floyd performing some of their most memorable music from the late 1960s but also performing Dark Side of the Moon, before its official launch on record in March 1973. I attended the concert with several friends studying at Leeds University who also knew roadies helping the band transport their equipment…as most were leaving the building my friends and I held back for a while and were invited to help remove some of the bands WEM speaker columns making part of the groups 360deg quadraphonic sound system…On completing the task we gathered around the bands 32 channel Allen and Heath sound mixing console weighing up the technology…the Floyd band members emerged and stood around the sound mixer for a chat with the sound engineers. Without hesitation the Pink Floyd concert programme was presented to each band member and on asking for their autographs they duly obliged. Whilst asking Roger Waters to sign I also plucked the courage to ask him what base guitar strings he used to this he replied ‘Rotosound.’ A friend also asked him about the main chord sequence for Interstellar Overdrive…and again he explained clearly the sequence.” An amazing and immensely rare piece not just of Pink Floyd history, but of music history itself—Dark Side of the Moon would go on to become the longest charting album ever released. A true Pink Floyd relic signed during a most pivotal period in the band’s history.
