Santos Zelaya, President of the Government Junta of the Republic of Nicaragua,” in full: "I have received your letter of August 24th last, by which you announce that the Junta over which you preside, has assumed the Executive Power of Nicaragua. Reciprocating the sentiments of friendship for the United States expressed in your communication, and apprising you of the constant desire of this Government for the true prosperity of Nicaragua, as well as of my personal good wishes. May God have Your Excellency in His wise keeping." Signed at the conclusion by President Cleveland and countersigned by Secretary of State Walter Q. Gresham. In very good to fine condition, with several small pieces of tape along the edges.
