Partly-printed DS as governor of Ohio, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 13.75 x 17, April 15, 1868. Hayes appoints Curtis Hall "to be Justice of the Peace" for the "Township of Fowler in the County of Trumbell." Signed at the conclusion in ink by Hayes, and countersigned by Ohio Secretary of State John Russell. White paper seal remains affixed to lower left corner. In very good condition, with some creasing, splitting and toning along intersecting folds, and print on the reverse showing through in the lower area.
