Description

Pioneer executive (1878-1961) who played a key role in the development of the United States film industry. After receiving a presidential pardon for income tax evasion, he played a key role in launching Marilyn Monroe's career. He was also one of the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and in 1952 he was given a special Academy Award in recognition of his important contribution to the development of the industry. Vintage matte-finish 10.5 x 13.5 Hurrell portrait of Schenck, signed in fountain pen. Blindstamped in the lower right by Hurrell. In fine condition, with light contrast to first name of signature, lightly trimmed edges, and some scattered light surface dings.
