Letter to William Buswell, in part: "Your…favor of September…was not received by me until the day after our election…It was then too late for the publication of your most pertinent and admirable article—the day after the election I was called away again to court in an adjoining county." Franked on the reverse of the second integral page by Stephens. In very good condition, with splitting along folds, and areas of paper loss to the hinge and final page.
