Hale, in part: "I want to thank you on behalf of the Duke of Windsor and myself for the fine volume of the Life of Vermeer with its interesting illustrations. We both appreciate this gift from the Boston Authors Club and we hope you will express our thanks to them for this exceedingly kind gesture to us while in Washington. We took the opportunity of visiting the Mellon gallery to see the Vermeers…The Duke joins me in again thanking you and we send our best wishes to you and for the continued success of the Authors Club." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in her own hand.
