So as to insure the safety of his trip, desiring a passport from you and from M. Enkewer, I thought that in asking you for it, as I so humbly am doing, you would not refuse to transmit a passport for him and for his personal servants to go to Spire to see to personal matters and then to meet the army, which thence will be able to proceed if necessary."
