ALS signed “CD,” one page, 5 x 6.25, Office of All the Year Round letterhead, October 20, 1865. In part: "I congratulate you on having run the gauntlet. Short walk in the time! I have not yet had leisure to read it, but am just going to do so. Early in November—the first week of November—I shall probably [leave] here for two or three days…I will give you notice of the time I suggest for an appointment as soon as I can telescopically discern it." In very good condition, with trimmed edges, toning, wrinkling, and old mounting remnants on the reverse.
