World War II-dated TLS signed “H. E. Kimmel,” one page, 6 x 8.25, Commander Cruisers, Battle Force, United States Fleet letterhead, January 12, 1941. Written from Pearl Harbor as commander-in-chief of the US Pacific Fleet, a letter to James W. Hanbery, in full: "I wish to express to you and Mrs. Hanbery my sincere thanks for your kind letter congratulating me on my new assignment. It is gratifying to me to hear such confidence expressed, particularly from an old Kentuckian." In fine condition.
