Continental Army officer (1756?1796) who served as aide-de-camp to Horatio Gates and led troops at Brandywine and Germantown in 1777. Manuscript DS, signed ?Approv'd by Walter Stewart, Surveyor,? one page, 8 x 13, 1794. Stewart submits a bill to Pennsylvania tax collector Sharp Delany covering services rendered from April?June 1794, during which he attended various coasters and larger trading vessels calling at Marcus Hook. In fine condition, with a small hole from ink erosion.
