Description

"I'm not worrying about the market. It goes up and down?just like political fortunes!"

TLS signed ?Dick,? one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, June 15, 1962. Letter to his friend, the financier Jack Dreyfus, in full: "Rose Mary told me of your call on election day and I just want you to know how much it meant to have your good wishes. I know what a busy, hectic time this has been for you but I do hope it will not be too long before we will have a chance to get together." He adds a handwritten postscript: "I'm not worrying about the market. It goes up and down?just like political fortunes!" In fine condition. Nixon had won the 1962 Republican primary for the nomination for governor of California on June 12, just three days earlier. On May 29, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 5.7% as a part of the 'Flash Crash of 1962.' The markets went on to recover throughout the summer.
