King Tut's discoverer grants a pay raise to a tomb guard

British archaeologist and Egyptologist (1874–1939) known for his discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun in Egypt's 'Valley of the Kings.' Manuscript DS, one page, 7 x 9, 1902. Document concerning a pay raise for a tomb guard, signed by Carter to approve the request. Also initialed twice by prominent Egyptologist Gaston Maspero. In fine condition, with pin holes to upper left corner and two file holes along the left edge. During this period, Carter was serving as Chief Inspector of the Egyptian Antiquities Service and supervising a number of excavations at Thebes (now Luxor). A highly desirable, early document directly associated with his archaeological work.
