French Marshall (1770-1823) considered one of Napoleon's finest commanders. LS in French, signed “Prince d'Eckmuhl,” one page, 8.5 x 13.25, January 31, 1810. In part (translated): "I have the honor to transmit to your Excellency a memorandum of proposal for appointment to a post of Major in the 57th line regiment, in confession of Mr. Brosset, of the same regiment. I beg your Excellency to put this memorandum of proposition before His Majesty." In fine condition, with short tears to top and bottom edges. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
