Description

Henry Miller

ALS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, June 12, 1976. Letter to the novelist Chayym Zeldis, in full: "First off, why the double y in Chayym? Is that to differentiate it from Chaym (life)? I enjoyed reading the review and the letter about 'brothers.' Your friend Glickberg writes well indeed but sounds so much like a professor!! I was surprised to see this review in the L. A. Times. Didn't the N. Y. Times review it? I marvel at your zeal! I never heard of a writer writing under all conditions and circumstances. One of my favorite writers, Gilbert K. Chesterton (English) did his writing in a corner of a cafe or restaurant and was remembered by every one because he laughed (at his own work) while writing. I've often done that too. But I imagine you have no time to laugh while working. I am afraid you will be somewhat disappointed with 'Friends.' It's such a little work in comparison with yours!…Give warm greetings to your dear wife." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Miller's own hand. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
