Description

Carnegie reflects on the Agadir Crisis of Morocco

TLS, one page, 8 x 10, Skibo Castle letterhead, September 22, 1911. Letter to Richard Fleischer, in full: “Your note finds me busily engaged, closing up here and preparing to sail for the other side. The subject you raise is an important one and deservs [sic] careful treatment, but I must ask you to wait, as my hands are full at present. Morocco is not worth fighting for and Germany will make a terrible mistake if she does not realize this. I hav [sic] no fear of the Peace Treaty not passing the Senate. The President has taken the right stand in meeting the views of the Senate. We shall hav [sic] it, I think, before the year is ended.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
