Two items: a matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of Ike in front of a presidential flag, calligraphically inscribed, “For M/Sgt. Francis M. Lyons,” and signed in fountain pen, “with best wishes from Dwight D. Eisenhower”; and a TLS as president to Master Sergeant Lyons, one page, personal White House letterhead, July 14, 1956, in part: “I want to thank you for all you did for me while I was in ‘residence’ on Ward 8…Of course I have missed the attention I received while I was at Walter Reed, but with Sergeant Moaney’s able help, I have managed to get along pretty well.” In overall very good to fine condition, with creasing to both the photo (heaviest on Ike’s forehead) and letter (heaviest at the bottom), and light foxing and toning to the letter.
