John A. Logan

American military officer and statesman (1826–1886) who fought in the Mexican-American War and the Civil War. An activist on behalf of veterans’ affairs, Logan was instrumental in the creation of Memorial Day as a public holiday. Uncommon 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Logan in near profile, signed in the lower right in ink, “Yours truly, John A. Logan.” Published by C. M. Bell of Washington. Permanently mounted to a piece of heavy cardstock and in very good to fine condition, with vertical creases to the right side. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
