He went on to enjoy success as a character actor, perhaps most memorably as Gloria Swanson’s faithful butler in the 1950 classic Sunset Boulevard. Vintage matte-finish 7.5 x 9.75 photo of von Stroheim posing in a suit and tie, signed in fountain pen, “Sincerely yours, Erich von Stroheim.” In fine condition, with some scattered spots of mild silvering.
