Description

Theodore Roosevelt

TLS as president, one page, 7.25 x 8.75, White House letterhead, October 31, 1903. Letter to Julius Dreher, in full: “It would be a real pleasure to appoint you to a position, for I should feel I was doing good to the public service. But what position do you wish? As you know, the only appointments that could be made are when vacancies occur; and the right type of vacancy may not soon occur. Would it not be well for you to come to Washington and yourself find about what positions there are, and how soon they would become vacant? I wish I could write you more definitely.” Roosevelt makes a few handwritten corrections to the text. In very good to fine condition, with light soiling, and a horizontal crease across the bottom blank area. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
