Maillard Kesslere portrait of Talmadge wearing an ornate coat and headband, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Clarence Brown, Every success to you always, Sincerely, Constance Talmadge.” Reverse bears a Kesslere photography stamp. In fine condition, with trimmed edges, a few surface marks and scratches. A notable filmmaker for Universal Pictures and MGM, Brown directed several Joan Crawford and Greta Garbo movies, and is tied with Robert Altman and Alfred Hitchcock for the most Academy Award nominations for best director without a single win.
