Description

Sought-after handwritten letter from the Virginian signer

Member of the notable Lee family and signer of the Declaration of Independence from Virginia (1732–1794). Scarce ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7.5, April 13, 1769. Letter to Mr. Strother, a merchant. In full: “The Bearer comes for the 4 pounds of Tea you promised to put by for me—Be pleased to let him have them, and I will pay you your money the next time I have the pleasure of seeing you.” In fine condition, with partial separation to the bottom hinge. A very appealing example from one of the rarer Declaration signers. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
