King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1760 until his death in 1820 whose reign was marked most notably by the loss of British control over the American colonies. Partly-printed DS, signed “George R.,” one page, 7.5 x 12.25, August 20, 1798. King George appoints Thomas Price to be “Surgeon of the Corps of Cavalry of the Association of the Inhabitants of the Town of Bilston in the County of Stafford.” Signed in the upper left corner by King George. Handsomely double-matted and framed with an image of the king, an engraved plaque, and a bronzed medallion encircled with the text, “Georgius III, D. G. Rex,” to an overall size of 13 x 31.
