Description

Franklin D. Roosevelt

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, July 21, 1931. Letter to Hon. Arthur S. Tompkins, a longtime justice of the Supreme Court of New York. In part: “I have been in a quandary for I have wanted to say ‘yes,’ but at the same time I would have to break a definite precedent of not accepting any honorary presidencies while in Albany. This is such a splendid organization, however, that I think I can make an exception, so if you still want me to be honorary president of the American Good Will Union, I will do so.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
