Description

“‘Immediate and unconditional emancipation’”

ALS signed “Wm. Lloyd Garrison,” 5 x 8, October 31, 1873. Letter to Louis Sarona, in full: “The American Anti-Slavery Society was formed in Philadelphia, December 6, 1833, having for its motto ‘immediate and unconditional emancipation,’ and for its object the complete population of the country. It had to confront opposition in every conceivable form, extending through a period of thirty years, but it never compromised its principles, and continued the mighty conflict until all yokes were broken, and full American citizenship was conferred upon the objects of its championship.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
