Description

The Hollywood producer and his very own Tom Sawyer

TLS signed “Daddy,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, The Towers of the Waldorf–Astoria letterhead, October 21, 1941. Letter to his son, Jeffrey Selznick, in full: “I have looked at a number of pictures of airplanes, and I think this book contains much the best. It contains photographs in color, and I think will help you to learn to identify the different planes of the different countries. I hope this is what you wanted. Mother and I both miss you a great deal, and send you our love. I do hope that you remember the talk you and I had on the way to the airport, and are living up to my very high expectations of you.” Includes an original Selznick International Pictures contract, seventeen pages, dated February 25, 1937, signed at the conclusion by Thomas Kelly, the young actor who was handpicked by Selznick to star as the titular lead character in the film The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In overall fine condition, with two small edge tears to the letter and expected wear to the document. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
