Civil War-dated LS, one page, 8 x 9.75, Confederate States of America, Executive Department letterhead, January 6, 1863. Letter to Colonel John T. Wood, in full: “You will proceed without unnecessary delay to such points in the State of North Carolina as will enable you to carry out the verbal instructions which have been given to you. Upon the completion of the duty herein indicated, you will return to this city and report to me in person.” In fine condition. John Taylor Wood was the son of Union General Robert Wood and Anne Taylor, the daughter of Zachary Taylor.
