Full free frank, measuring 9.75 x 7.5 unfolded with a center panel of 5.25 x 3, addressed in Tyler’s hand to “Hon. R. M. T. Hunter, U. S. Senate, Washington, D. C.,” and franked in the upper right, “J. Tyler.” Docketed in another hand with a date of February 25, 1854. Also includes an unsigned 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Tyler by E. & H. T. Anthony from a Brady negative. In very good condition, with overall wrinkling, a small tear to top edge, and scattered toning. One of Virginia’s senators, Hunter went on to become the Confederate secretary of state during the Civil War. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
