Description

James Chadwick

English physicist (1891–1974) who was awarded the 1935 Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery of the neutron in 1932, thus paving the way towards the fission of uranium-235 and the creation of the atomic bomb. ALS signed “J. Chadwick,” one page, 5.5 x 3.5, personal letterhead, July 2, 1973. Response to an autograph request. In full: “I have, as requested, put my signature on each of the 3 envelopes you sent. I have not previously seen the postage stamps which you put on the return envelope—most interesting.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
