Description

Samuel Johnston

American planter, lawyer, and statesman (1733–1816) who represented North Carolina in the Continental Congress and US Senate. Partly-printed DS, signed “Sam Johnston,” two pages, 7.5 x 12, June 29, 1789. As governor of North Carolina, Johnston certifies that “Nathaniel Allen whose Name is signed to the Paper hereunto annexed is one of the Justices of the Peace in the County of Chowan.” Signed at the conclusion by Johnston. The paper signed by Allen concerns a legal case and is attached with a ribbon and large seal. In very good condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
