Melville Fuller

Maine politician (1833–1910) who served as the eighth Chief Justice of the United States from 1888 until the year of his death. ALS as chief justice signed “Melville W. Fuller,” one page, 5 x 7.75, December 27, 1903. Letter to Supreme Court reporter C.H. Butler, in which Fuller suggests edits to three pages of a manuscript. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds (vertical fold passing through the first letter of the signature) and slight irregular toning. Provenance: The Everett Fisher Collection. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
